In our districts, the September primary election practically decides the outcome of the November general. Unfortunately, it’s usually a very low-turnout election — especially this year, because it also falls on September 1, which depresses turnout among renters.

Low turnout means that each vote matters more. And lower renter turnout means that homeowners, already over-represented in most state elections, will have even more sway. That’s why it’s critical for you to show up and vote for YIMBY candidates Burhan Azeem, Mike Connolly, Ben Ewen-Campen, and Will Mbah.

Register to vote and/or request your mail-in ballot by Tuesday, August 22.

Early voting takes place August 22 - 28 at City Hall.

Attention renters: Your voter registration does not expire just because your lease does. You can and should still vote on September 1 even if you’re moving out of Somerville!
