Council & Mayoral Endorsements

Plus: Davis Square Neighborhood Council, fundraisers, and more

The Somerville preliminary election on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 will include votes for mayor, city councilor at large, and councilor for Ward 7. Based on candidate survey responses, individual conversations, public statements and established track records, we encourage you to vote for:

Mayor: Willie Burnley, Jr.

Councilor at Large: Scott Istvan, Ben Wheeler, Will Mbah, and Jonathan Link

Ward 3: Ben Ewen-Campen (note: this race will not appear on the September ballot)

Ward 5: Naima Sait (note: this race will not appear on the September ballot)

Ward 7: Emily Hardt

The incumbent candidates in wards 1, 2, 4, and 6 do not have challengers, and we think there’s a good reason for that: they’ve done a good job and deserve re-election.

If necessary, we will update our voter guide after the preliminary election.
